NEW YORK (WXIX) - Major League Soccer officials announced Friday that the suspension of FC Cincinnati’s Matt Miazga has been shortened.

Instead of sitting out for three games, Miazga will only have to sit out two after submitting a petition that showed his commitment and compliance to the recommended behavior and substance abuse treatment, according to a press release by the media spokesperson for FCC.

The suspension was issued against the center fullback after the Nov. 4 game against the New York Red Bulls.

According to the MLS Disciplinary Committee, Miazga showed on-field misconduct and entered the match officials’ locker room. MLS did not disclose what exactly happened or what the dispute was about.

Miazga has already served his first suspended game against the Columbus Crew on Dec. 2, and he will serve his second and final one during the home-opener against Toronto FC on Sunday.

He will return to the pitch on March 2 for the match against Chicago Fire FC.
