Three FC Cincinnati players named to MLS All-Star Game in Columbus
CINCINNATI (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER) - FC Cincinnati will once again be well-represented at Major League Soccer’s All-Star Game.
Midfielder Luciano Acosta, as well as center back Miles Robinson and wing-back Luca Orellano, were named to the All-Star Roster.
Thirty players were honored when MLS unveiled its All-Star Game roster Monday, and 2024 marked the second year in a row FC Cincinnati had three representatives in the match.
MLS will face a team of all-stars from Liga MX, the Mexican top-flight of soccer, July 24 at Lower.com Field in Columbus.
The two leagues will face each other in a skills contest July 23 at the same venue.
MLS last used the MLS-versus-Liga MX format for its all-star game in 2022 at Minnesota United FC’s Allianz Field.
Acosta has become an All-Star Game mainstay. The 2024 selection will mark his third year in a row at the annual summer showcase.
The FC Cincinnati captain was a second-half substitute for the game in Minnesota in 2022 and then captained the MLS team in 2023 against Arsenal FC of the English Premier League at D.C. United’s Audi Field.
Acosta was voted into the 2024 All-Star Game, as was Robinson.
Orellano was hand-picked for the team by Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy, who will be the head coach for MLS against Liga MX.
For Robinson, the All-Star Game nod is the second of his career (2021).
