Lakota West boys basketball wins first region title in program history

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Lakota West High School’s boys basketball team won its first regional championship in the program’s history over the weekend.

The Firebirds defeated Fairfield 45-40 in the regional finals Sunday and now advance to play Reynoldsburg next weekend at Wright State’s Nutter Center.

This was also Lakota West’s first regional final appearance in nearly 20 years.

“It’s an emotional moment,” said Head Coach Kelven Moss. “I’m just elated with this opportunity, man, so emotions kind of fill me up a little bit.”

Senior guard Isaiah Meade-Moss said the team “just came out on the court today and put everything on the floor.”

“It’s a super special moment,” he said. “We worked all summer, all spring, for this moment right here. We’ve always believed in it.”
