CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Three big names in music will be headlining America’s River Roots Festival, bringing the blues, country, funk and more to Cincinnati this fall.

Grammy Award-winning artists Weezer and Maren Morris, and indie-rock band Mt. Joy are just three of the main acts performing at America’s 250th Birthday celebration.

The five-day festival kicks of Wednesday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 12 across three cities: Cincinnati, Newport and Covington.

Mt. Joy will perform Friday, followed by Weezer on Saturday, and Maren Morris Sunday on the Main Stage.

Tickets for the main stage concerts go on sale Friday, July 11 at 10 a.m.

The festival will also feature multiple free performances by regionally acclaimed artists, such as Cincinnati’s folk-rock duo Over the Rhine, a country trio featured on America’s Got Talent called Chapel Hart, and jazz drummer Harvey Mason.

These artists and others alike will perform on the following stages:

  • Sawyer Point Stage - Gospel and cultural rhythms
  • Schmidlapp Stage - Jazz and gospel
  • Freedom Center Stage - R&B and blues
  • Covington Stage - Bluegrass, country and Americana
  • Newport Stage - Southern rock and blues
  • Yeatmans Cove Stage - Cross-genre
  • Public Landing Stage - Regional music

“The river was not only a means of transportation: it transported, created and shaped the music we know today — from jazz, blues, R&B, gospel, to rock,” said Tena Clark, America’s River Roots Executive Music Director and CEO of DMI Music & Media Solutions.

Organizers anticipate that more than 1 million people will be at the event - sipping, indulging and listening to what is America’s Rivertown culture.

The event is expected to bring in tens of millions of dollars to the local economy.

More artists will be announced later this summer.
