World War II veteran celebrates 100th birthday
KENTUCKY (WXIX) - A World War II veteran is celebrating a major life milestone - his 100th birthday.
Most people can only dream of living to 100, but for Kentucky native George Bradbury, that dream is a reality.
Bradbury enlisted in the Marines right out of high school to serve in WWII.
After basic training, he deployed to the Pacific Theater as a radio operator and worked with the Navajo Code Talkers.
To celebrate his 100th birthday, he surrounded himself with family and friends while sharing what kept him feeling young through the decades.
“Hard work, a cigar now and then, go fishing, be good to my neighbors,” Bradbury explained.
Bradbury returned home after serving his country.
He found a job, got married and began to raise a family.
Over the years, he started to run a service station and a skating rink, and also served on a school board.
