Nation’s leading high school rusher plays football in Greater Cincinnati
BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - The nation’s leading high school rusher plays football for Talawanda High School in Butler County, according to MaxPreps.
Senior running back Lance Cantrell set a new career high and school record at Friday’s season-opening game against Taylor High School.

Last season, he rushed for a total of 135 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
On Friday, Cantrell crushed those numbers.
He rushed for 423 yards on 26 carries and scored a whopping five touchdowns in Talawanda’s 51-21 victory.
“He’s down to earth. You just talk to him, he knows where he’s at,” said Andy Stuckert, head football coach.
Cantrell’s performance is now 23rd on Ohio’s all-time record list.
His coach made it clear, however, that Cantrell won’t be resting on his laurels.
Talawanda faces Meadowdale High School at 7 p.m. Thursday in their first away game this season.
“There’s certainly a little buzz going on,” Stuckert acknowledged.
“But we just got done hammering the fact home that we have a game Thursday, and all that celebrating is done.”
