CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A Florida woman has created what she calls the American Prosperity Pillow as the nation approaches its 250th birthday, with proceeds supporting organizations like Tunnels to Towers, a nonprofit that helps families of fallen heroes.

“I’m blessed that I’m living the American dream, and I hope these inspire people to live the American dream too,” Karen Post said.

Post has spent years as an interior designer.

She said during the Fourth of July last year, she felt inspired to create something to show her patriotism.

“I thought interior designer, great opportunity. I need to create something that is a symbol for the love of our country and that is beautiful,” Post said.

Research reveals America lacked prosperity pillow tradition

After research, Post found that other countries have used prosperity pillows to simulate wealth and luck for centuries, but America never had one.

“The other countries depend on luck,” Post said. “I believe in America if you have a great idea, you have a great plan, you work your plan, you’re okay with hitting bumps… You don’t need luck because prosperity is yours, and you just need to go out there and get it.”

Post said the American Prosperity Pillow does not represent luck, but instead represents what she thinks is a true reflection of the American dream and what it takes to succeed.

All-American manufacturing approach

Post said potential tariff changes will not affect the making of these pillows.

“Everything is made here in the United States, every bit of this is American,” Post said. “Every time that we buy American, every dollar to we spend, we are actually contributing four dollars to our economy, because it’s like the ripple effect.”

Post said the pillows support American workers and entrepreneurs.
