CINCINNATI (WXIX) - To date, there has not been a single report of a tornado in the Tri-State in 2026. While it feels like we are falling behind, tornado season here is just getting started.

The United States recorded 1,559 tornadoes in 2025 - the fifth-highest annual total on record. Sixteen of those touched down in the Tri-State.

March, April, and May each brought in more than 300 tornado reports from around the country. Most tornadoes - both here and nationwide - happened between March and June.

Since 1950, the Tri-State has seen 374 tornadoes. Warren County has recorded the most with 36, while Robertson County has seen the fewest with two.

Warren County has reported the most tornadoes since 1950 at 36.

After Warren County, it goes to Clinton with 33, Brown with 28, Clermont with 27, and then Butler and Ripley counties tied at 25 each.

That could be, in part, because Warren and Clinton counties are two of the large counties in the Tri-State. More land areas means more opportunities for reports.

So when comparing tornadoes per square mile, the rankings shifted.

Warren County still ranks first, and Clinton County remains second. Carroll County jumps up to third, followed by Ohio and Clermont counties.
