Elly de la Cruz placed on 10-day IL

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Elly de la Cruz is on the 10-day Injured List, the Reds announced Monday.

The young Reds star suffered a right hamstring injury during Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

Cruz described feeling tightness in his hamstring during the game.

“When I was running and then I was making the turn to get to first, I felt tightness in my hamstring,” De La Cruz said.

Cruz said he is optimistic and does not believe it is a major injury.

With Cruz on the IL, the Reds called up infielder Edwin Arroyo from AAA-Louisville.

The Reds are back at Great American Ball Park on Monday to take on the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on FOX19 NOW.
