SUWANEE, Ga. (Aging Untold) — A Georgia couple says weekly trips to a secondhand bookstore have kept them connected throughout more than 30 years of marriage.

Michael and Brooks Breedlove visit Read It Again Books in Suwanee each week to browse for books they haven’t read.

“It’s something we can do together,” Michael Breedlove said.

The trips follow Brooks Breedlove’s medical appointments in the area, Kim McNamara, owner of the bookstore, said.

The couple also shops in matching outfits — a habit they said began after retirement.

“After our retirement is when we started dressing together, you know alike, so much more, particularly anytime we were going out. I figured that way, she’d have to associate with me,” Michael Breedlove said.

Brooks Breedlove said she has always enjoyed doing things with him.

“I always loved doing things with him together,” she said. “I like him.”

McNamara said regulars like the Breedloves are part of the community at Read It Again Books, which has been open for more than 20 years.

“The thing is, if I don’t know your name or my staff doesn’t specifically know your name, we know what you read, and it makes it part of a community,” McNamara said.
