Man arrested, charged after police find 2-year-old with life-threatening injuries

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A man was arrested and charged after police responded to reports of a 2-year-old not breathing Sunday afternoon, the Colerain Township police said.

Sabastian De La Cruz-Macal, 23, was taken into custody and charged with endangering children and felonious assault after officers were called to a residence in the 10200 block of Rappelt Drive just before 4:30 p.m.

According to Colerain Township police, officers located the child, and they were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries..

Detectives determined the child’s injuries were consistent with physical abuse, and the investigation led to Cruz-Macal’s arrest.

The child was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, according to court records

Cruz-Macal was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.

He is expected back in court Aug. 12.
