Body found in search for 18-year-old who went missing near Dracula’s castle 8 months ago

(Gray News) - A body was found in the search for an 18-year-old who went missing while hiking near Dracula’s castle in Romania.

Authorities have not identified the body but said they believe it is George Smyth, a British university geology student, who went missing in November.

The body was found in the Bucegi Mountain region near Dracula’s castle.

“We are all devastated by George’s death. He was the best of us and is deeply missed by his younger brothers, family and friends,” Smyth’s family said.

They also thanked everyone who “worked tirelessly since November searching for George.”

His family has requested privacy and time to process and grieve his death.
