Community steps to the plate for the annual Benny Buehler Memorial Softball Tournament

Community members gather to raise money for the Benny Buehler Memorial Softball Tournament. Buehler was diagnosed with leukemia, and his sister held the first tournament in 1980 to help her brother pay for a bone marrow transplant, with their other sister being the donor. In 1994, the tournament was held for Shannon Lowe, who was hit by a car a month prior. The organization and tournament went on to pay more than $1 million in medical debt before folding in 2024.
