Veteran receives free heating system from Blue Ash company

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A Tri-State veteran will receive a new heating and air conditioning system at no cost through a company giveaway program.

Elemer Rouse Jr. and his wife have struggled with an aging HVAC system for years, worrying about winter heating costs and reliability.

“Our stuff is very old,” Rouse said. “We’ve been band-aiding it for years.”

National Heating and Air Conditioning in Blue Ash selected Rouse for their annual veteran giveaway program, which provides free HVAC system installations.

“It’s incredible,” Rouse said. “I mean, it’s just going to be nice to know that each season, winter and summer, we aren’t going to have to worry about getting maintenance done on the furnace or the AC unit because it’s going to be new and reliable.”

The company has received hundreds of submissions since starting the giveaway three years ago.

Many veteran applicants were without heat, according to company officials.

“It’s important to us here at National Heating just to be able to give back to the veterans and support those that supported us,” a company representative said.

Company workers showed Rouse what his new unit would look like during the announcement.

“When you see the emotion of it, that just puts it all into perspective. That’s the best part about the job, whether the camera’s here or anybody’s here or not, just to be able to give back to a veteran and let him know that we appreciate him and appreciate his service to our country,” the representative said.

For Rouse, it’s more than just a new heating system — it’s peace of mind. And for National Heating and Air, it’s proof that sometimes the best way to warm a home is to warm a heart.

National Heating and Cooling advertises the giveaway beginning in September.
