Veteran gets new heating, air system installed
Installation complete two weeks after National Heating and Air Conditioning announces contest winner
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Elmer Rouse Jr. received his new heating and air conditioning system two weeks after winning National Heating and Air Conditioning’s veteran giveaway.
“Yes, they came early this morning. I think I even, when you knocked on the door, had heat,” Rouse said.
The process began when friends and family nominated Rouse for the contest without his knowledge.
“A lot of my friends at work and my wife and everybody put me in for it for the veterans’ air conditioner and furnace. And they tricked me. I thought I was in the finals, but I actually won. So, it was heartwarming,” Rouse said.
Rouse said the community support has been as meaningful as the new system itself.
“We don’t do the things that we do to get recognition,” Rouse said. “We do it because we love our country, and we do it to protect our country, but it’s nice that you have people like this and companies like this that do appreciate veterans.”
With the installation complete, Rouse offered a final message:
“I just want to tell everybody out there, God bless, and God bless America.”
National Heating and Cooling advertises the giveaway beginning in September.
