WWII veteran celebrates 100th birthday
Family and friends gather to honor local Navy veteran Robert Suddenorf
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A World War II Navy veteran celebrated his 100th birthday Thursday.
Robert Suddenorf turned 100 years old Thursday. He served as a signalman in the Navy. Since his return home, his daughter says he has continued to serve his community.

Suddenorf’s daughter, Cindy Groves, says one of her father’s greatest qualities is his kindness.
“He’s a friend to all. He’s the kindest, friendliest person I know,” Groves said.
Loved ones came together to celebrate Suddenorf with a party at the Brookdale Springdale Assisted Living Facility.
Groves says she’s been counting down the days to his 100th birthday and she’s thankful the day is finally here.
“I’m so glad he made it because so many don’t. I’ve heard some people go right before they turn 100, so I was praying for this day,” Groves said.
Groves says her mother and father were high school sweethearts who met at 16 years old.
