Cincinnati Public Schools back-to-school bash draws families ahead of first day
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Cincinnati Public Schools hosted its annual back-to-school bash Saturday, offering families a free community event ahead of the upcoming school year.
The event was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Washington Park and included school supply giveaways, games, activities and bus tours. Families also had access to sports physicals and health services.
District leaders say event continues to grow
Board President Brandon Craig said the event gives families a chance to connect with the district before classes begin.
“It’s a great chance to get to know some of the schools in the district, get some really cool stuff and really get to learn about what CPS is all about,” Craig said.
Craig added that the event has expanded year over year.
“We’re really proud of this day and it gets bigger and better every year,” he said.
Families prepare for return to classroom
For some students, the upcoming school year marks their first time in a classroom. Parent Molly Acree said her family was looking forward to the milestone.
“We’re really excited, Bryant is starting preschool,” Acree said.
Cincinnati Public Schools students return to class on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
