Cincinnati police shoot, kill suspect after abduction, chase into Green Township
GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - Cincinnati Interim Police Chief Adam Hennie and city leaders held a press conference Sunday to release new details after officers shot and killed a suspect following a reported abduction and high-speed chase that ended in Green Township.
Officers first received a call for an abduction around 4 p.m. Saturday, Hennie said.
The victim was abducted from her job at Mercy West Hospital, where suspect Timothy Cromwell, 23, pushed her from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat and stole her car.

Chase ends at school
Units identified the vehicle on Boudinot Avenue and Ramona Avenue. Cromwell led police on a 45-minute-long chase that ended in front of Our Lady of the Visitation School in Green Township.
Cromwell crashed the vehicle in front of the school.
Both he and responding officers exited their vehicles, according to Cincinnati police spokesperson Brad Underwood.
Officers open fire after suspect advances with knife
Cromwell approached officers while armed with a knife. Officers gave repeated commands to drop the weapon, according to Hennie.
The suspect refused and made “aggressive moves” toward police, so officers fired multiple shots at Cromwell, Hennie said.
The victim reported that Cromwell told her he had no intention of going to jail and intended to commit “suicide by cop,” Hennie said.

Suspect had prior criminal history, active warrants
Cromwell had previously been arrested on charges of abduction, aggravated menacing, menacing by stalking, unlawful restraint and violation of a protection order.
Hennie said Cromwell was on parole at the time of the incident for the abduction and menacing by stalking charges.
Cromwell also had two active misdemeanor warrants for unlawful restraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Cromwell’s family told Cincinnati police that he suffered from multiple mental health issues and had previously made comments about attempting suicide by officer.
