TRENTON, Ohio (WXIX) - The 16-year-old boy who died after falling from the top of a moving vehicle has been identified.
Mason Young, 16, died a little after 12 a.m. Saturday at Miami Valley Hospital, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Trenton police and fire crews responded to reports that a teenager fell while “riding on top of a vehicle” at the intersection of Dartmouth Street and Brampton Place, police said in a news release.
CareFlight medical helicopter flew Young to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was pronounced dead.
“It is a horrible tragedy,” Trenton Police Chief Patrick Carr told FOX19 NOW.
“I feel for the family. It is heart-wrenching.”
Investigators with the Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing police investigation.
Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be contributing factors in the incident, police say.
