Woman hospitalized after shooting in Mason; suspect in custody, police say

MASON, Ohio (WXIX) - A woman was shot inside a Mason home Monday evening and a man was taken into custody, according to police.

The Mason Police Department was called to the 1400 block of Windward Drive in Mason around 7:31 p.m. Monday for a report of a domestic violence situation.

According to Mason Police Chief Levi Wells, when officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot.

The woman was transported to UC West Chester for her injuries, where her condition is currently unknown.

After the woman was transported to the hospital, the Warren County Tactical Response team negotiated with a man who had barricaded himself inside the home.

The man was taken into custody without further incident.

Chief Wells says the relationship between the victim and suspect is not immediately known, but Mason police are continuing their investigation.
