CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Wednesday evening is a First Alert Weather Day. Most of the daylight hours will be dry, but storm chances gradually increase and become much more widespread overnight. Scattered thunderstorms become more likely around midnight, with the strongest storms favored from roughly 1 to 8 a.m. Thursday.

The entire area is under a Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, for severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind the primary severe weather concern. There is also a Slight Risk, level 2 out of 4, for flash flooding. That flooding threat is worth watching closely following last week’s excessive rainfall, particularly if storms repeatedly move across the same locations overnight.

Storms linger into the Thursday morning commute before gradually becoming more isolated. The trend improves considerably by afternoon, with clouds breaking and dry weather expected for Thursday evening. Fog then becomes our next recurring nuisance. Patchy, locally dense fog is possible mainly north early Thursday, with the better fog opportunity shifting south Friday morning. Additional fog will be possible again Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The weekend itself still offers plenty of usable dry time, despite a few weather issues. A spotty thunderstorm is possible Saturday, but widespread rain is not expected. That will matter with a packed Saturday around Cincinnati, including the Bengals hosting the Bears at Paycor Stadium, FC Cincinnati hosting Seattle at TQL Stadium, the Cincinnati Open in Mason and Jason Aldean performing at Riverbend. Sunday looks even drier, with only a very slim chance for a stray storm.

The payoff arrives early next week. Monday and Tuesday look fantastic with comfortable temperatures, lower humidity and plenty of sunshine. Clouds begin to increase Wednesday, with our next spotty opportunity for thunderstorms arriving around Thursday. At this point, there is no sign of another prolonged stretch of wet weather.
