MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - Vice President JD Vance is set to return to the Tri-State and his hometown to deliver a speech Friday evening, according to the Office of the Vice President.
The vice president is returning to deliver remarks at the Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown Works facility.
Vance will be joined by U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
The Office of the Vice President said that the speech will focus on the Trump administration’s America First economic agenda.
The visit also comes as polls show increasing disapproval of current economic conditions, especially as inflation and gas prices remain high amid the ongoing war with Iran and the president’s blanket tariffs.
Vance, who was born in Middletown, will likely aim to ease voters’ economic anxieties while providing a vision for the future as states hold their primaries ahead of the November general election.
Ohio’s election will likely garner national attention as several races for the U.S. House and Senate could determine control of Congress.
Meanwhile, Republican businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will face off against Democrat and former Director of the Ohio Department of Health Amy Acton to replace the outgoing Gov. Mike DeWine.
