Kings Island opens for 2026 season this weekend

MASON, Ohio (WXIX) - Kings Island’s 2026 season kicks off Saturday with all of the classic rollercoasters, plus one brand new ride.

The park is opening “Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare,” an interactive indoor coaster where riders will catch ghosts trying to escape the theater.

The ride is intended to replace the beloved Boo Blasters, which permanently closed Sept. 1.

Kings Island is also bringing back “Monster,” which has been out of commission since 2024.

Before opening weekend, Kings Island season passholders will also get to preview the park Friday from noon to 9 p.m.

The park will open to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday and close at 9 p.m.

Kings Island says it will only be open on the weekends through May 17.

The waterpark is expected to open May 23.
