CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Tri-State is waking up to rain this morning, making it a First Alert Weather Day.

This will likely cause delays on your morning commute and make for a soggy wait at school bus stops.

Flooding and wind gusts over 40 mph will be the main concerns, according to the FOX19 NOW Weather Team.

A Flood Warning due to excessive rain is in effect until 10:15 a.m. for Butler and Warren counties in the northern Cincinnati suburbs.

Severe weather is not expected, and the rain should end by 9 a.m., the weather team says.

The afternoon only brings a spotty storm chance, but for the most part it will be dry.

Flooding concerns

The National Weather Service says 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain has fallen in Butler and Warren counties.

A separate flood warning is in effect for areas along the Great Miami River around Middletown and Lemon Township.

The river is going to crest just over flood stage, which is 12 feet.

Earlier Thursday, a Hamilton woman was displaced by flooding in her apartment along the river, according to Butler County dispatchers.

Cooler air sticks around

Once the wet weather pushes out of the region, we expect mostly cloudy skies this afternoon.

It will be humid with a high around 80 degrees.

We are in for a nice reprieve Friday.

Expect partly sunny skies and a mild high of 82 degrees.

Storms, however, will return Saturday.
